About the Authors

Mellisa Mance-Samcou

MA, BA Dip Ed.

Mellissa has been teaching senior history in both public and Catholic schools across NSW for 20 years. She has a teaching degree in History and English and a Masters in Ancient History from Macquarie University. Her Masters Thesis was on the tomb gardens of Pompeii.

Mellissa has been involved in a number of archaeological projects across the world, including Pompeii, Cyprus and Australia, and has given a public lecture at Macquarie University on the excavations at Pompeii.

 

Ken Webb

Ken Webb was educated in the United Kingdom and graduated from the University of Oxford.

  • He taught in several state schools before moving to Pymble Ladies’ College where he taught Modern, Ancient and Extension History.
  • In March 2008, he moved to Ravenswood School for Girls where he also taught the International Baccalaureate course in History.

Ken Webb frequently lectures to HSC students on various aspects of HSC Modern, Ancient and Extension History. For several years, he has also run Professional Development Courses and workshops for teachers on different aspects of Senior History. Ken Webb’s work takes him across Sydney and into regional NSW.

He is a member of the Independent Schools Examination Committee for Modern History.

Ken Webb has written extensively on various areas of Modern, Ancient and Extension History, and also for the National Curriculum in History. In addition to his own work, he has contributed to colleagues’ work, and to newspapers and periodicals. He has also been a consultant for various history video documentaries.

In November 2012, Ken Webb was a NSW Winner of the National Excellence in Teaching Awards.
